The area that is now Bethel CT was settled as early as 1700.  Bethel, a pulsating growing community in Northern Fairfield County was part of Danbury CT until 1855.  This town, like neighboring Newtown and Danbury was rooted in hat manufacturing.

Bethel is now a town of more than 18,000 people with over 17 square miles.  Through all of its growth the small town charm still remains.  The core area of the town center has been designated as a historic district.  You will find one of the most desirable, yet quaint shopping districts in the center of town.  In addition to the shops there are some great restaurants and eateries.

There is a train station in the center of town which connects Bethel to Lower Fairfield County.  Currently there are two trains running from Bethel to NYC during each rush hour that do not require a train change.  Although the old 1899 train station is still standing, it’s use was changed when the new station and parking opened in 1996 on Durant AVE.
