CONSUMER FINANCIAL PROTECTION AGENCY – ONE YEAR OLD AND GROWING!

For the last year HomeActions has been following the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. They are charged with cleaning up policies and procedures when consumers borrow money or otherwise engage financial services companies. The Bureau just announced that they are taking oversight authority of credit reporting companies. Also CFPB just released the list of their 55,000 consumer complaints.

Recently there have been some in the financial industry that think the CFPB has too much authority and is actually a hindrance. To allay those fears, the Bureau recently issued their Scorecard for the first 6 months of the year.

For starters, the news about Credit Reporting agencies now being regulated may be helpful.

Should you have any problems with credit reporting companies, the CFPB has some resources for you HERE

The Bureau also is welcoming your consumer complaints and recently published the most active types of complaints. If you  have any type of complaint start HERE, and you can even track the resolution!

Complaints Rolling In; 55,000 so far.
The Bureau not only receives complaints, it actually digs into each one and contacts the company for a hopeful resolution. In the last year, the bureau collected 55,000 complaints and has them all documented as to type and resolution. Should you feel you have been ripped off by a financial institution, you will find the Bureau very helpful.
