Walk The Walk 2013
When: October 1st – January 1st
Where: Sherwood Island, Westport CT
What: Join your neighbors for a 5K Walk for families and friends along the shoreline of Long Island Sound at Sherwood Island State Park. Dogs on leashes welcome! Food & beverages, great raffle prizes and and a dog costume contest guarantee you’ll have a fun-filled day while supporting Positive Directions.

Greenwich Symphony Concert
When: October 13th (4PM – 6:30PM)
Where: Greenwich High School
What: The Greenwich Symphony Orchestra will start its new performance season on October 12 and 13, with a program featuring brilliant violinist Philippe Quint. Mr. Quint will perform two pieces: Alexander Glazunov’s rhapsodic Violin Concerto and Maurice Ravel’s “Tzigane,” a flashy, virtuosic piece inspired by Romani folk melodies. The program will also include American composer William Schuman’s “New England Triptych.” Finally, the Orchestra will lead a celebration of the 200th birthday of Italian composer Giuseppe Verdi, with the “Four Seasons” ballet music from his opera “I Vespri Siciliani.”

Crafting Life Stories
When: October 17th (6:30 PM – 8:30PM)
Where: Greenwich Library [101 West Putnam Avenue, Greenwich CT]
What: This 7-week memoir-writing workshop is designed to help people discover and tell the stories only they can tell – and to do so in a supportive environment that encourages even beginning writers. With a background in journalism and fiction, instructor Joan Motyka will offer journalistic tools and literary techniques to help people explore the significance of people, places and events in their lives.Using readings, prompts and writing assignments, she helps students draw stores from memory, organize them into a narrative and polish them through revision.
