This lake was created by Stevenson Dam in the 1920s and currently lies between the Shapaug Dam and the Stevenson Dam along the Housatonic River. Lake Zoar is known for fishing and recreation.
Each of the towns has a public access boat launch. The Southbury location is maintained by the state of Connecticut and is open to non-town residents. Additionally, there is canoe access from Kettletown State Park.
There are two state parks along its shores and four boat launches. Similar to Lake Lillinonah, the wild life is preserved and you will find many canoes and kayaks making use of this lake. The flourishing wild life attracts exploring boaters and fishers.
